I love board games, it’s been a hard year and a half for me making buy without my game nights.

What are a couple of your favorite board games?
Off the top of my head for me: Terra Mystica, Argent the Consortium, Too Many Bones

Thanks! Nice to hear from you too.

My gaming crew refused to close down. We have met regularly for decades. As to games, it depends upon the timeframe. If I only have a couple hours, then Clank, Wingspan or Kingsburg. If we’re spending more time, then Terra Mystica is a good choice, but so are Terraforming Mars, Scythe, Catan, or even the Firefly boardgame.

I’ve played Clank, I hear a ton about Wingspan but don’t know KIngsburg too much.

As for the longer games they’re pretty much all staples of my circle too~

Wingspan sounds boring as hell… who wants to play a game about bird watching? But the game play itself is surprisingly engaging! My first reaction was “Wow, this doesn’t suck!” After a couple plays it definitely made my top3 of shorter games. Kingsburg is really straight forward as the base game. The expansion actually makes it challenging. Either way, it’s still a quick game (1.5 hours would be a long game of Kingsburg). It was the first of these 3 games to make my top list for shorter games, and it’s still there.

This rings so true. Like I see everybody talk about it, but when I look it up and it’s like… Oh this sounds very casual.

But it keeps popping up so I imagine there’s definitely something to it.

I think I got talked into sampling Wingspan at some Con or other and a buddy picked it up. So when we were short on time we tried a full game. It has more subtle ways to get ahead and manipulate your opponents than most short games. If you come across it, I encourage you to give it a try. It’s more complicated to master than base Clank… probably more on par with Clank if you play with the alternate starter characters and decks from the 5-6 player Clank expansion. Meanwhile, Kingsburg is more on the skill level needed for the base Clank game. Nearly anyone can get the hang of it very quickly.
